Sometime in the next 6-10 weeks my husband and our three little ones will be starting a new chapter in our lives. We are going from living in a small city of about 17,000 to living in an extremely rural area where we are five miles from the nearest community, their population is around 70 people.

We have no access to public utilities, everything is self supported on the property.  The house is 4 bedrooms, with a bathroom and laundry room. The house is going to need some paint and minor repairs that we will be doing ourselves.

The house sits on 40 acres. It is fenced and cross fenced. We have some fencing repairs to make. The barns need some minor work. There is a lot of sage brush that I want to remove- 8 acres I would like to see planted in a grass hay mix. We need a brush (or bush) hog to be able to remove all that sagebrush. I envision a self supporting vegetable garden in years to come... my daughter wants a fairy garden in the trees where her tree house is. I also want a koi pond and small yard area about the house. Oh so much to do and dream about!!!!

Over the next few weeks I will be posting ideas and such that we have for the property. Then once we are there, I will post our progress in learning to live off grid!
